The weaponization of the beauty industry

& selling the idea we're not enough (or have enough).

I’ve decided to reclaim the word beauty from the machine of capital. I’ve once detached from being in the “beauty industry,” therefore detached from my place within it. Since the rise of social media, I’ve felt that I don’t belong in this industry due to the perceived lack of truth and product-pushing based on online trends. The mirage was something that I loved when I was younger, before I discovered and believed in my very own beauty.

I was constantly looking to the outside world to find out:

What will make me feel beautiful?

What I can buy, what I can obtain, what I can cover up?

I became numb and critical of the intersection between “beauty” and “the internet.” I started feeling like I was tOo dEeP for this industry… until I let it all go and remembered that:

Beauty itself is among the deepest of all

as deep as love, nature, human connection,

expression, and the simplicity of being.

To begin the journey of going into myself and as honestly and authentically as I possibly can: let my voice free. That’s the journey that is more than buying, obtaining, and purchasing beauty…and it’s uniquely tailored for you. The journey of expression is a beauty that is felt, witnessed, and resonant. Maybe I don’t need to fit into anything. Maybe all I need to do is express myself and allow people to see me, to hear me. Maybe I will come to find that there are plenty of people who feel the same way that I do.

But I’ll never know if I keep hiding,

SO HERE I AM.
